New Women Entrepreneurs Receive Financial Support
16 October 2013, ProkupljeEuropean Partnership with Municipalities Program ЕU PROGRES advertised a public call for grants supporting female entrepreneurship in 25 municipalities South and South West Serbia. This public call was advertised only for unemployed women registered with the National Employment Service and up to ten EUR 4,000 grants will be approved exclusively for procurement of machines, equipment and other standing assets. Apart from this support, the European Union and Government of Switzerland will fund up to 20 municipal gender equality mechanism projects through EU PROGRES with up to EUR 2,000 per project.
Unemployed women registered at the NES for not less than three consecutive months shall qualify to submit one project for funding of production or service start-up business. The money will be awarded in accordance with the relevance of the project, expected outcome and impact, as well as sustainability. Over EUR 40,000 will be allocated for these projects through EU PROGRES so the smallest grants will amount to EUR 1,500 and the largest will be EUR 4,000. All project proposals must be submitted to EU PROGRES not later than Monday 28 October 2013.
Alsoo launched was the call to municipal gender equality councils to submit project proposals concerning the improvements in this field and increased participation of women in decision-making at local level, economic empowerment of women and improvement of their healthcare. Advantage shall be given to projects defined through local action plans. The best proposals will be selected in a competitive process and not more than 20 projects will be selected. Municipal councils can utilise funds from local budgets in these projects.
